It has been a couple months since Daniel Cameron won the GOP primary for Governor here in Kentucky and he had one last decision to make - a running mate. On Wednesday morning the rumors ended as Cameron announced stalwart conservative State Senator Robby Mills as his Lt. Gov pick. The two will now hit the road together and share their message as November's election draws closer. Our podcast is no fan of political cartoonist Joel Pett, but it seems this week he crossed a major line. Appearing at a comedy club, an anonymous source let our show know Pett decided to attack GOP Gubernatorial nominee Daniel Cameron with racist jokes. No stranger to racism, Pett was also fired on the same day - with his newspaper currently remaining quiet. Meanwhile, the Kentucky governors race is heats up - and in some interesting ways. Earlier this week, Cameron rolled out his comprehensive public safety plan. It focuses on gang violence, drug enforcement, recruitment and retention of officers and much more. Polling however suggests the opposite, with Democrats even losing trust in Biden's ability to handle the economy. In the last few days, Andy has been caught lying (again) about economic data and now finds his campaign embroiled in controversy over more than $200,000 in suspicious donations. From his mishandling of tornado relief funds, to lying about teacher shortage numbers, it has been a rough few months for the Governor. Congressman Brad Wenstrup, Chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, has been working hard to reveal plenty about the COVID-19 pandemic. From gain of function research, to the virus' origin, perhaps no part of the pandemic needs more digging into than the school closures. Last month, AFT's President Randi Weingarten joined the committee to give plenty of non-answers and skirt around the truth. Now, tired of the union's lack of cooperation, Wenstrup and the committee are threatening to subpoena records of communication to the CDC on re-opening schools.
